167: The Armistice of Mudros

Bulgaria, after three years as part of the Central Powers coalition, was losing enthusiasm for the war. The cost to the small nation was high, and the rewards meager.

So when an Allied offensive broke the Bulgarian line in the Balkans, Bulgaria sued for peace. The loss of the line of communication to Germany and Austria forced the Ottoman Empire to follow suit.

  1. Isn’t it interesting, Britain captured the Iraqi oil by using soldiers and supplies from its colony india. Basically the british upper classes got the benefit, while the poor indian boys died for it and the poor indian farmers paid for it..
    I wish I would be able to say “that’s how empires work”, but that wont be correct. That’s how the British empire worked. A true infernal machine.
