At the moment the Great War began, there were a number of German cruisers stationed all over the world. Though they were outnumbered by the Royal Navy, they attempted to interfere with British shipping, causing the Allies a lot of grief in the opening weeks of the war.

This podcast is one of my favourites.. But I think it could be even better if financial/economic history is more frequently discussed.. For example, WWI caused financial havoc that ended up in the collapse of gold standard and rise of NY as the new financial center.. It would be nice to listen some episodes about that. And it would be a good preparation for the 1929 great depression…
Also, German/Austrian economic desperation under Royal navy blockade is a very interesting topic to be discussed..
