Mark,
I just finished listening to your podcast with Zack Twamley and the Russo-Japnese War. I found the interview fascinating. I also wanted to reach out to you after hearing you and this comment area was the only place I could find to reach you, from your website. I wanted to share a source that might help with your understanding of racism and bigotry in the early 20th century. Harry Turtledove wrote a series of novels about an alternate history with CSA won the Civil War. Being a historian, his strength is that he added plenty of historical details, which he showed would have occurred regardless of the path that politics or society has taken. The later novels which take place in the early 20th century, it was amazing to me to hear the level of bigotry between countries and between different groups among US society. I found this to be difficult to accept until I remembered my father’s approach to different people. While he did tone it down when I was a young child, as I got older and he got older, it was amazing to hear his true nature come through.
My the way, I am also a baby boomer (’52) and I find your podcasts to be illuminating and on-target. Please keep up the good work. I have supported in the past and will again in the future. BTW, living in Richmond, VA in the 21st century has been interesting but I really appreciate you annual reminder about the actual Southern motivations for the Civil War. I have board game friends who keep insisting the South just wanted independence and that slavery was not the cause. I think your article pretty much up that argument.
Again, thanks for your effort in your podcast. If there is a better method to reach out to you, please let me know.

Thanks! I used to have a note on the website about how to contact me via email, but somehow it disappeared. I have added it back on.
