  1. As an Australian Sir Robert “Bob” Menzies is pronounced MEN + Zzz’s. Leader of the Conservatives took Australia into WW2 but replaced by Labor Party for the rest of the war. Leader of the rebadged Liberal – Country (= the Coalition ) Party for the 1950’s & 1969’s. Key events in future podcasts – Korea & Vietnam, SEATO, Suez Crisis, ANZUS alliance, right wing politics.
I am a great fan of this podcast & have recommended it to many listeners

    • HELP! This name is very confusing to Americans, and I’m still figuring it out. I believe in Britain it is usually pronounced “MING-iss” and in Australia “MENG-zeez.” Have I got it right now?

  2. Fantastic episode. Incredible how much land the Japanese were able to conquer in such a short amount of time. And the realization that it would be long, hard and bloody to remove them over the next four years. Keep up the great work Mark.
