Japan, like Italy, went into the Paris Peace Conference with demands the other Allies were reluctant to embrace.

The Italian walkout gave Japan the leverage it needed to win its territorial claims, but the debate on racism left the Japanese feeling humiliated.

  1. a very expertly done program.. in addition to us/uk view, we also get the japanese view, which is unusual..
    please also cover korea..
    there is a huge debate over korea.. some say that japanese were the monstrous invaders under whom the korea suffered. others say that japanese transferred their scientific/industrial experience into korea, and this is what lies under the korean miracle in 1950’s.. the truth is probably somewhere in between..
    korea is important because it is one of the few “successful” countries of the second half of the 20th century… The reasons of its success must be investigated..
